Snow White Pantomime Script Spotlight
The fairest panto of them all!
Our Snow White pantomime script takes a plot the audience could recite from memory and puts everyone on stage in its way. The Narrator arrives in Scene One to tell the story and almost nobody pays the slightest attention. The Prince spends most of the show disguised as a delivery man, the Magic Mirror will only speak in rhyme, and the seven bearded brothers are called Lucky, Dizzy, Jolly, Skippy, Cosy, Snoozy and Clappy. There is a UV ghost sequence and a scene built around an enormous teddy bear as well.
Synopsis
The wicked Queen Devilia seethes with jealousy when her Magic Mirror reveals that Snow White is now the fairest in the kingdom. Determined to remain the most beautiful, she dispatches the hapless Sally and Simon to deal with the problem. Fortunately for Snow White, they are entirely inept, and she escapes into the Black Forest.
Lost and alone, Snow White stumbles upon seven bearded brothers who take her in and offer their protection. Meanwhile a Prince, disguised as a delivery man, is quietly searching for her, with Dame Babs doing her considerable best to complicate matters at every turn.
With help from unexpected quarters, the Prince leads a daring mission into the forest to find Snow White and end Queen Devilia’s reign of terror once and for all.

Queen Devilia confronts her Magic Mirror after an unwelcome verdict:
Queen Devilia: ‘What!?! You can’t just change who the fairest in the kingdom is; you can’t!’
Magic Mirror: ‘Oh, my Queen you’ve gone deranged, I told the truth, and it’s now changed!’
Casting Snow White: Who this script suits
Snow White runs to 15 principal characters and two supporting roles, which puts it among our scripts for large casts. The seven brothers alone give you seven named roles with distinct personalities, and the townsfolk, deliverymen and ghost sequences give a larger company plenty to get their teeth into. The UV scene and the giant teddy set piece are both reliable highlights that work in most performance spaces without elaborate technical resources. If your company has more capable comic performers than most scripts can find room for, this is where to put them. It is also one of the safest sellers in our traditional pantomime scripts, if the poster has to do some of the work.
Three parts are worth thinking about before the rest. The Prince is a delivery man for almost the whole evening and only becomes princely in Act Two, which the script suggests handling with a reversible jacket rather than a second costume, so cast him for comedy first and romance second. The Magic Mirror appears only inside its frame, summoned by two claps and answering in couplets, which makes it one of the few parts in the catalogue that never crosses the stage and a good home for somebody who cannot be on their feet all night. And the teddy bear scene is pure timing. Dame Babs and the Prince share the stage for the whole of it without once seeing each other, because the bear sits between them, he believes he is alone and she believes the bear is talking to her, so every stand and every bow has to miss.
The staging is more forgiving than 16 scenes suggests. Eight play on a full stage and seven in front of the tabs, and the script is relaxed about which is which, since the throne room and the ground outside the castle each play both ways at different points in the evening. If your stage is small, or your changes are slower than you would like, that flexibility is worth more than it sounds on paper.
If 15 principals is more than your company can field, our Sleeping Beauty tells a close cousin of this story at 10, with a wicked fairy in place of a wicked queen and a girl who ends up asleep either way. It is the same territory with five fewer leads to find.
